The Destruction of Equality
Statistics show that 1 in 3 women worldwide have experienced sexual, mental or physical abuse during their lifetime, highlighting how common women abuse is nowadays. Even though, our society can’t concede this nuisance, women endure a strong action of violence towards their gender, and everyday it keeps getting worse. That means when you walk through a street, pay close attention because 1 of 3 women that you see, have gone through emotional, physical and sexual trauma. Now picture a healthy, peaceful neighborhood without violence if you can.
In addition, 38% of women death are caused by a male partner. Sorry to impart you this, but not all relationships end up in a happily ever after. Those are myths and tales. In reality, when female gender commit and get married, a huge part of those relationships turns out to be abusive and don’t underestimate them. When you get in one of them, getting out and realizing that you have been damaging yourself is not a trivial matter at all. First of all, you are manipulated into thinking that you are worthy of the cruelty, worthy of being treated as an object, worthy of the threats and worthy of all the violence. Even when you realize the damage, your significant other will be there, knowing your home address, your parent’s location, where you go and what you do, your credit card’s password, simply everything about you. Unfortunately, all the information is ready to be used against you, without a blink of an eye. Hence, you are trapped in your own body, wondering when you will face another act of violence, sometimes not being able to sleep at night because of the fear inflamed inside you. At the end of the day, depending on the partner’s mercy, the woman can either face an agonizing death or a lifetime full of misery. You choose which side is more tolerable.
Moving on, statistics show that 15 million girls are going through marriage before the age of 18 every year. That adds up to 28 girls every minute. Even through the time you spent reading this article, a girl might have just been forced to commit to some man who is 30 years older. It is interesting how none of us actually cares about this major problem because you never know, she might end up getting raped and go through pregnancy this time next year. These abusive actions towards girls beneath the age of 18 invade their independence and rights for their older life. Hence, how can you wait for a girl to grow and live her life when her happiness ended years ago, back when others decided against her consent and forced her to become a robot whose only responsibility is to satisfy her “partner’s” desires? It all just makes me wonder.
All in all, billions of women above and under the age of 18 go through sexual, physical or emotional trauma because of abuse created by the male gender. This points out to critical gender inequality and has a very fundamental impact towards our current society, causing the formation of patronizing views towards women. People who are still not aware of the challenges women of this century go through are solely primitive. We are a part of a society and every individual is responsible to maintain the equality that lays beneath. So, why hush instead of promoting the gift of equality?
