Many Reasons To Be Happy
Updated: Jan 2, 2021
What do you think is the percentage of surviving a plane accident? Or a severe car crash? Even a train disaster? Very very low, right? Even though you survive, the chance of having lifetime scars or effects are incredibly high. Walking, breathing, talking, being healthy, living, and more… They are the miracles that life gave us as a present. Don’t you think that life is a miracle all by itself? And still, many people are complaining about the things that they don’t own.
Jakson Follmann, a Brazilian soccer player who lost his leg in a plane crash. In 2017, a plane carrying a soccer team named Chapecoense fell, and only six people managed to live after the crash. Folman lost his job, his leg, and, most importantly, his teammates. He could turn his face back to the world and become stunted for everything. He didn’t choose that. Despite this, he continued and tried to play soccer. Forlan never lost the will to live. He tried and tried and tried. He was happy after all, and that is the whole point of life. He always looked at the events on the empty part of the glass. Forlan was young by the time the crash had happened. He had dreams and goals to achieve in his life, and he never let the disability of his to limit his actions.
Stephen Hawking, as you all know, is a scientist with ALS. ALS is a disease that blocks the movement of the body muscles by killing the neurons controlling voluntary muscles. The disease appeared while he was in his twenties. He was successful, but because of his illness, he could commit suicide. On the other hand, despite his disability, he worked, he researched, and he turned his disease to an advantage. Stephan Hawking inspired and continues to inspire people by the way he saw life. He was a happy individual, and he died as a happy individual. Hawking did the same thing as Jakson Follmann. Stephen Hawking never stopped dreaming, never stopped running for his goals, and never blamed his disability when he couldn’t do something. He won a countless number of awards and got his name on the greatest scientists of all-time list.
This soccer player, who nearly lost everything in his life, can be happy. Stephen Hawking, who suffered one of the hardest diseases of history, can be satisfied. Then why don’t people? There is a lot to be happy about in our lives. What is the point of being depressed and hopeless to live because of a bad situation that happened or may happen? Our friends, our kids, our family, and way more… There is a lot, so appreciate it. At least try to enjoy life. Do not let something bother you a lot because then you won’t receive the joy from the things you do. Life is a gift, so try to enjoy every moment of it and be happy.
